The TRUE story of Hansel and Gretel

Last Friday, our class and some other classes from our school was lucky enough to see the ballet performance "Hansel and Gretel" we only got to see half of it when Hansel and Gretel were going to the gingerbread house, because the real bit was going to be for two hours but it was one hour because we had to get to school.

So for this week we had to make our own version of Hansel and Gretel since there are a lot of versions and the one that we saw (ballet performance) was a bit different to what we expected and so, we could make the ending different or anything different we could also add plot twists which could make the story seem more interesting, and we could also make it so it's different perspectives.

I found it a bit difficult to make the story different because I had no idea how to make it my own version but then I thought of a way to make it seem really interesting! I enjoyed making my story seem intersting with adding all of the plots twists and different perspectives.

This is my story.
(It's not finished yet but I will be finishing it)

“Hansel did you leave a pile of bread crumbs?”
“Yeah”
“Now, how about if dad finds us?”
“Don’t think so let’s keep going.”
“Hansel, look a cool gingerbread house!”

“Well..I am feeling a bit hungry, let’s go inside?”
“I guess”

I need to see if Hansel and Gretel want bread. “Hansel, Gretel?” hm, why aren’t they replying?
Maybe I'll just see if there- What!? There not here..maybe they just went outside, yeah! I’ll go look
I guess. “Hansel? Gretel?” There not here..wait! There’s bread crumbs maybe I could follow it..

I opened the door quietly as I could so no one would catch me,
I wondered if anyone was here anyways I thought about what mum always said
“Never talk to strangers” but no one would be here right like I mean it looks very empty anyways.
I walked in and the house was very dirty It was so different to the outside everything was rusty
and it almost looks like if a witch lived here but I didn’t mind, I was really hungry but then suddenly
the door opened and made a little squeaky sound. I was afraid and quickly ran behind Hansel in fear.

“What are you kids doing here!?”
“W-we need some help!” Hansel yelled
“Eh! No need to yell I could get you some food.”
“Psst, Hansel remember what mum said?”
“Well we don’t want to starve to death right?” Whispered Hansel
“Right..” whispered Gretel
“Well, I'll be right back to get you some food.”

I looked a Gretel and said “Everything’s going to be okay, she looks nice.”
But Gretel looked away and headed straight for the door I didn’t want to be
here alone and before I even knew what I was doing I grabbed her arm
and hugged her I knew she liked hugs and it would probably persuade
her to stay here with me. I stopped hugging her and she said “Fine, but promise that we’ll be safe?”
I didn’t reply for a second but then I said “yes, promise!” so after I said that the lady came back with
a lot of food, it was mostly dessert but I didn’t mind.

“Here you go make sure to finish it all.” said the stranger
“Okay then.” Hansel said

Couple of hours later, Hansel ate a lot while Gretel only finished one plate.
Hansel began to get fat, but he didn’t care all he cared about was eating soon later
after five plates he fell asleep right on the chair, Gretel did too.

“Hansel! Wake up.” Yelled Gretel
“What What!”
“Your in a cage, and you promised me that we’ll be safe but you lied!” Shouted Gretel
“SHH! I’m sorry look. I thought we could trust her..” Whispered Hansel
“Now she’s going to cook you alive, because you ate a lot of food!”
“W-What..how do you know!?”
“Uhh..what do you mean?”
“HOW DO YOU KNOW ALL OF THIS!?” yelled Hansel
“H-heh, I don’t know anything I swear. It was a lucky guess!!”
“Your not Gretel are you…?”
“Of course I'm not!”
“Who are you?”
“You can call me Ketel!”
“W-Wait your our long lost sister!” yelled Hansel
“Yes now I can finally get my revenge!”
“What have you done with Gretel!”
“Don’t worry I just thrown her back in the woods.”
“WHAT!”
“Eh, now let me just turn on the oven..”

“Huh?” Why am I back in the woods and Hansel..NO! He’s still in there with the stranger,
I need to go save him what if he’s in danger? but how am I going to get back, there’s
no breadcrumbs and I can’t even see the gingerbread house..wait..
“DAD!”
“Gretel!”
“I’m sorry dad, we just wanted to see the magical forest you were talking about.”
“Magical? Haha! It was just a joke.”
“Oh…”
“Where’s Hansel?”
“HANSEL! He’s in danger. The gingerbread house!”
“Why!?”
“Well we went in the gingerbread house and then we met a lady that gave us a lot
of food but then Hansel began to get fat and then I woke up here and I don’t know
what happened next but he’s in danger!!”
“Gretel! Take a deep breath..”
“Sorry, but I don’t know where the gingerbread house is!” said Gretel taking a deep breath
“Don’t worry, let's just keep walking straight.”

What am I going to do, Gretel might be in more danger than me how about if she’s thrown in
the lake!? I’m going to be cooked and she’s going to be drowned!? No..no...no! I knew it
I should have just trusted her. Wait..Is that key on top of the cage? Hmmm maybe be I could..grab it.
“HEY, what are you DOING?” Shouted Ketel
